Rates are approximate national uniform base rates. Your actual bill also depends on fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly adjustments, fixed charges for larger loads and taxes, which change month to month. Always check your official bill.
Why does 201 units cost so much more than 200?
Protected consumers who use up to 200 units get much lower rates. Once your usage goes above 200 units, you lose that benefit and higher rates apply to all units — which is why one extra unit can add thousands of rupees to your bill. Keeping usage at or below 200 units, or adding a small solar system, can save a lot of money.
What else is on your bill?
Besides energy charges, bills include a financing cost surcharge, fuel price adjustment (FPA), quarterly adjustments, electricity duty and 18% GST. Some bills also carry fixed charges for larger loads or income tax for high bills. This calculator gives a close estimate, but your official bill is final.
